Jeff Bridges, T Bone Burnett: Spirit Awards Photo

T Bone Burnett and Jeff Bridges won Spirit Awards at the 25th Spirit Awards ceremony held Saturday, March 5, in Los Angeles. Bridges won the Best Actor award for his performance as a down-and-out country singer who develops a romantic relationship with a younger woman played by Maggie Gyllenhaal. Both Bridges and Gyllenhaal are in the running for this year’s Academy Awards. Bridges is the odds-on favorite to win the Best Actor Oscar; Gyllenhaal is a surprise nominee for the Best Supporting Actress Oscar.
T Bone Burnett, who is up for an Oscar for the song "The Weary Kind," won the Spirit Award given to the director and producers of Best First Film Crazy Heart. Scott Cooper was the director and one of the producers; Burnett was another of the film’s producers. Ryan Bingham co-composed "The Weary Kind."
